EXCELLENT AWARD RECIPIENT OF THE VIRTUAL INTERNATIONAL, INVENTION & DESIGN COMPETITION 2020 (3iDC2020)

PULAU PINANG, 31 August 2020 - “Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds”, the motivational quote of Albert Einstein has given Nur Aadila Ahmad Razi the edge to create her success. She won a Bronze medal in International Invention, Innovation and Design Competition 2020 (3iDC) organized by Faculty of Accountancy, Universiti Teknologi MARA Kedah, Malaysia.

Nur Aadila Ahmad Razi is the second year Ph.D student from Centre For Instructional Technology and Multimedia (CITM). Her innovation team members are Prof. Dr. Irfan Naufal Umar, Dr. Nurullizam Jamiat, and Nuradiba Syahira Rusli. Her winning product for 3iDC is the invention and design of an innovative courseware entitled “FOWAC: Food Waste Composting Multimedia Courseware”. The objective of FOWAC is to provide an educational platform to educate undergraduates on food waste ingredients and detailed steps of self-composting. FOWAC is conducive for learning because it was designed and developed based on a practical instructional model called Gagne’s Nine Events of Instructions.

FOWAC courseware has also been copyrighted under MyIPO (Intellectual Property Corporation Malaysia). In the last decade, the Malaysian Government has stressed the importance of sustainable growth of institutions. Sustainable development education initiatives are essential in improving sustainability for Malaysian Public Higher Institutions. Henceforth, FOWAC is an efforts channelled by PTPM to strengthen and materialise a sustainable green technology in USM.

“Innovation and Creativity For a Better Future”, a theme and slogan in 3iDC has definitely denoted its own significance. This is because innovation is needed to help to create a smart future so that people can enjoy the best quality of life possible. FOWAC has once again signified the contribution of PTPM in innovation for the nation. 3iDC 2020 competition was held virtually through Virtual Video Presentation due to COVID-19 pandemic.
